Privacy Policy

Gaia is operated by Argus Technology Corporation. This explains what we collect, where it goes, and what we do not do with it. It is short because the service collects little.

What we collect

The questions you ask. A question is the whole input to the service, so we necessarily process it. Questions of the form “what happens if we do X” are often commercially sensitive, and the section below on model providers is the important one for that reason.

Ordinary technical data. Our hosting provider logs the usual request information, including IP address, browser, and pages requested. We use it to keep the service running and to detect abuse.

A session cookie, if you sign in as an operator. It is strictly necessary for that and is not used for analytics.

We do not run advertising trackers, we do not sell data, and we do not build profiles of visitors on our own servers. The one recurring label that exists is the derived tag described under Operator notifications below, and it lives at the messaging provider rather than with us.

Where your panels are stored

Panels are held in your own browser, in local storage, so a refresh does not throw the work away. They are not kept on our servers. Clearing your browser data removes them, and we cannot recover them for you.

Generated portraits, audio and video are hosted by the providers that create them and are reachable by anyone holding the link for as long as that provider keeps it. Treat those links as public.

Model providers

Running a panel means sending your question, and text derived from it, to third-party model providers. We use them in four roles: generating the text of a panel, generating portraits, synthesising speech, and hosting the results of those so the next step can reach them.

Which provider fills each role changes as models improve, so naming them here would only tell you what was true on the day it was written. What does not change is how we configure them: we apply the strictest retention and routing controls each provider offers, we never send an end-user identifier, and for text generation we require United States hosting and zero-retention endpoints, failing the request rather than quietly falling back to a provider that does not offer them.

Not every provider exposes those controls. The default image generator is fal, which does not offer the request-level content-inspection and retention switches we apply elsewhere, so the text and portrait derived from your question are handled under fal’s own terms when it fills that role. We say so here rather than implying a guarantee we cannot give; an operator can switch portraits back to a provider that does expose those controls. A current list of the providers we use is available on request.

Operator notifications

Because the service is open and carries no account, the only way for the operator to know it is being used or abused is to be told. Each question sends a short notice to a messaging provider (Telegram) carrying the question, the country and city the edge reports, the network address, and a short tag derived from the address and browser so a repeat asker is recognisable at a glance. That message is retained by the messaging provider under its own terms. The derived tag is not stored on our servers, but the notice itself is durable at the provider, so treat the fact that a question was asked as retained there.

Training

We do not train models on your questions, and we have configured our providers to refuse endpoints that would. Simulated personas are generated fresh for each question and are not built from any customer’s data.

The people in a panel

The people on a panel are synthetic. They are generated outright and are not derived from any individual’s personal records, so a persona does not identify or describe any real person. Where a persona resembles a living person, it does so by coincidence.

Retention

Server logs are kept for as long as our hosting provider retains them, and are used only for operating the service. Panels live in your browser until you clear them, and the tokens that let it fetch media for a panel are short lived.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data we hold about you, and to object to it or ask for it in portable form. In practice we hold very little: no accounts, no profiles, and no panel history on our side. Write to us and we will do what the law requires.

Transfers

We and our providers operate in the United States, so using Gaia involves transferring data there. Where the law requires a transfer mechanism, we rely on the standard contractual clauses our providers offer.

Children

Gaia is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this page as the product changes, and the date at the top shows when it last moved.
